Paint me fragile
like a spider's web:
hang me with dew
and let the wind blow through me.
Trace my strands coarse-fingered,
catch me on rough edges.
I'll be the tatters on your sleeve,
I'll be the thoughts you can't get clean.

Paint me fragile,
but you made me
strong enough to bear a grudge.
Hide in the dark and hope the colours fade.
Paint me broken,
'cause it's all you know how to create.

Paint me precious
like a broken glass:
fill me with wine
and your refracted expectations.
Catch the light and
watch me seep through the cracks
Snatch your hands away,
but it's too to late: they're already stained.

Paint me fragile,
but you made me
strong enough to bear a grudge.
Hide in the dark and hope your colours fade.
Paint me broken,
try to cover up the mess you made.

I'm the lace spun from the web you tore
I'm the stained glass window from the
shattered pieces you left on the floor
I'm the doll made from the rags you threw away.

Paint me precious
Paint me fragile
Paint me broken
Paint me ragdoll
Paint me anything
but what you made me,
'cause i am pretty.
Just you watch me being spinning dizzy.
Just you stay the hell away from me,
'cause i won't be what you have made me.
Watch the paint dry,
crack and crumble;
fall away and leave me pretty
fragile.

Spider's web

Started about a year ago, it's been done bar one line for quite a while, but while fixing that one line quite a bit magically appeared at the end.

This, btw, is the song i'm learning guitar to. I imagine my housemates are sick of it ;)

The line 'strong enough to bear a grudge' was inspired my Maximo Park's "Our Velocity":
I watched a film to change my feelings
Strong enough to bear a burden
If everyone became this sensitive
I wouldn't have to be so sensitive

thankyou :) atm it's just a simple acoustic guitar accompaniment (that is, the chords are simple; the rhythm's a bitch ;) ), though i'm hoping to get my band behind it at some point, without overpowering it though.

Would you like me to lie to you now?
:iconguitarguy42:
cool. you thinking of evanescence type thing or keeping it simple, acoustic guitar, some light drum work, maybe classical piano with it?

hmm, that's a good question. honestly i haven't thought that far ahead. some tinkly piano or 2nd guitar would go nicely. Will definitely keep it light on the drums. Maybe some Ev-style strings, though now i'm dreaming outside the band. Then again, I'm a music student, so i have the license to do that ;)

:iconguitarguy42:
lol yeah. i was a music student but i had to drop it. i have no classical training and cant read music but i play by ear and play stuff like black dahlia murder through trivium and killswitch to megadeth and slayer. my point is, what's the point in having classical training if the vast majority of people no longer listen to classical music. furthermore, sureley it's better to play with your ears and your heart than your eyes and your head.

i agree that music should be played from the heart, but the advantage of a classical training is that it gives you a resource draw from, eg the way Amy Lee incorporates classical piano into her emotion-filled songs. I love my course, because it caters to both classical and "popular" musicians, encouraging us to experiment with various styles and giving us the freedom to follow our own path. having said which, a classical training is obviously by no means essential, as demonstrated by most guitarists out there nowadays :)

Classical training is cool.

A photo a day; yay
:iconguitarguy42:
hmm yeah. i wish musical notation made more sense to me. however, i can always replicate and adapt classical peices to fit my own needs.
